Our Values

Atelier Verdi’s values are centered around respect. Respect for our environment, respect for our communities and respect for our suppliers.

We strive to keep our footprint on our surroundings to an absolute minimum and pride ourselves on being part of the 'Slow Fashion Movement'. Slow fashion is a concept that aims to stop mass production and consumption, and rather take a more traditional approach to the industry, where things are made to last using high quality and ethical materials and the impact on surroundings is minimised.

That’s why our products are made to order specifically for each client. It keeps the label’s exclusivity, prevents overproduction and waste, eliminates the need for storage facilities and stops unnecessary shipping.

Each Atelier Verdi piece is crafted to stand the test of time, both in terms of quality and style, so we’re not influenced by changing trends and we like to think of our products as heirlooms that can be based down through generations.

Our artisans are a tight-knit community, operating small, family-run, boutique workshops in the heart of Tuscany. They are pivotal to what we are trying to do, so to us, it is vital that we support them to ensure their skills are kept alive.

We select our leather from a Santa Croce sull'Arno tannery, who participate in the Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) program, and they are busy working towards new production methods that will eliminate the need entirely. All of their hides are derived exclusively as a by-product of food production and nothing goes to waste. Residues from hide processing are recycled for use in the food industry or as fertilizers, insulating material for construction, regenerated leather, or building applications.

Hides are sourced predominantly from Italy, France and New Zealand and each has full traceability, which ensures ethical standards have been maintained throughout the animal’s life.

Our cashmere is sourced from Inner Mongolia, where our Italian suppliers ensure the goats freely graze in the vast surroundings and monitor the entire harvesting process, the protection of the territory, and the welfare of animals and shepherds.

Our cashmere cardigan and scarf are created using the finest organic cashmere, naturally dyed with Juniper flower in northern Italy to create a sumptuous soft cream colour. The eco-friendly chemical-free dyeing process has Woolmark Certification and is the only natural dyeing technology in the world to be approved by Woolmark.

All of Atelier Verdi’s swing tickets, labels, booklets and packaging are manufactured from recycled fibres and are 100% recyclable.
